Tim Lincecum Sharp In Comeback Win With Angels

Jun 20, 2016 7:46 AM

Andrew Triggs' first major league start was a bit overshadowed by Tim Lincecum's comeback Saturday, though he didn't seem to mind.

Lincecum made a winning return to the majors, restarting his career after nearly a year away with six sharp innings and several ovations to lead the Los Angeles Angels over the Oakland Athletics 7-1.

David Ortiz Hits 521st Career Home Run

Jun 20, 2016 7:46 AM

Even now, after all these years, David Ortiz has so much reverence for the greatest hitter in Red Sox history that he refuses to refer to Ted Williams without attaching the prefix "Mr."

And so, after belting his 521st career home run Friday night and tying the Splendid Splinter for 19th on the all-time list, Big Papi made sure to retrieve the ball.

"It's a good ball to keep, trust me," Ortiz said after the Red Sox lost 8-4 to the Mariners at Fenway Park. "The gentleman who caught it, he was very generous. He wanted me to autograph a bat for him, and I did."

Rockies' Arenado: 'Losing Is Getting Old'

Jun 5, 2016 10:42 PM

As soon as the first inning ended, Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado came into the dugout and began yelling in frustration.

The Rockies had been shut down by former teammate Drew Pomeranz in the top of the inning and gave up Matt Kemp's three-run home run in the bottom.

"Just frustration got the best of me," Arenado said after the Rockies lost 4-0 Friday night, their third straight defeat and sixth loss in seven games. "If I was going to do that I probably should have done that in the tunnel. I got frustrated, I let it out. The boys know I love them. I wasn't yelling directly at anyone. Just losing is getting old."

Said manager Walt Weiss: "He was frustrated. He cares. He wasn't directing it at anybody. He was just kind of pacing in the dugout. Not a big deal. He was just frustrated. You let him have his say and then move on."
